About Us

We’ve been navigating the wilderness for over 40 years.

Experience

We are not experts on wilderness survival but have had many experiences that have given us an understanding of what constitutes wilderness common sense.

Working as a mineral exploration geologist for over 40-years from Canada to the tip of South America, my wife and I had to develop skills so I could do my job and she could help, as my partner, without getting lost in the jungles of Central America, trapped in flash floods or other difficult situations. We also had to survive some unpleasant experiences of helicopter crashes and stuck vehicles. The skills presented in this site were developed from our own experiences, the many local guides who shared their knowledge, survival books and anywhere else we found sage advice.

We also volunteered with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue for 20-years and were training officer and secretary for many of those years. The training PowerPoint presentations were developed by us and are included in this site.
